Project background

Manual inventory management caused stockouts and excess simultaneously. The client wanted automated tracking tied to their ERP, with minimal behavior change for shop-floor staff.

Challenge

Making tracking accurate without forcing operators through cumbersome processes, handling mixed item types including bulk and serialized, and integrating cleanly with an older ERP.

Approach & solution

We deployed RFID portals at key transit points plus handheld scanners for exceptions, feeding into a middleware layer that reconciles reads against ERP state and surfaces discrepancies to operators. Bulk items use weight-scale integrations where RFID isn't practical.

Results & benefits

Inventory accuracy climbed substantially within the first months, and stockout events dropped across tracked categories. Shop-floor workflows remained familiar, which was critical for adoption.
