Queensland’s engineering base is spread differently to the southern capitals. Brisbane itself concentrates food processing, health-tech and a growing hardware-startup scene; the Sunshine Coast has an emerging cleantech and agri-tech cluster; the Darling Downs and further west host large-scale agriculture and horticulture; and the mining-adjacent industries anchor North Queensland. The programs we take on for QLD clients reflect that geography - agri controllers for growers, plant-side automation for food processors, and IoT for asset-heavy operators across mining, agriculture and utilities.
Some of our published portfolio work has been for Queensland-based agri and IoT operators, and the engagement pattern is straightforward: a Melbourne-based engineering team flies into Brisbane or a regional site as often as the program needs, works with local growers and manufacturing partners, and manages the design/build/handover arc without needing a Queensland office to do it. The two-hour flight is not friction for the class of work we do.

Engagement logistics
How we work with Brisbane and Queensland clients.
Site visits. Two-hour direct flights Melbourne to Brisbane multiple times daily; we plan regular Brisbane days into engagements. Regional Queensland (Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Rockhampton) - travel is quoted per trip with a fixed daily rate; often bundled with a full week of on-site work when the deployment supports it.
Commissioning and installation. Weekend, overnight or scheduled outage windows agreed with the site team. For remote QLD sites (mining-adjacent, far-north deployments) we build multi-day trips into the schedule rather than day-return visits.
Prototype freight and pilot runs. Melbourne to Brisbane overnight through StarTrack / TNT. For remote QLD sites, ground freight adds a day; we plan iteration cycles accordingly.
Time zone. Queensland is AEST year-round (no DST); in Melbourne’s daylight-saving months we work an hour offset from Brisbane. Program schedules are set with that gap accounted for.

No - we are Melbourne-based. Queensland clients get regular on-site visits budgeted into the engagement, travel bundled efficiently across weeks rather than expensive day-trips, and Melbourne engineering rates without a QLD hosting premium.
Yes - agri systems are one of our core practice areas and some of our shipped portfolio work is for QLD-based growers. The autonomous hydroponics program in our portfolio is illustrative of what we bring to QLD horticulture clients.
Yes - and we plan for it. Far-north QLD, Western QLD and mining-adjacent sites get multi-day site visits with the deployment sequenced to make the travel worth the trip. Freight, comms fallbacks and equipment lists are all planned accordingly.
Federal RCM/ACMA apply everywhere; QLD WHS is the workplace safety framework. Mining-adjacent work needs additional safety inductions per site; we work with your MSIC or site-safety process.
As the program needs - typically bundled trips of 2-3 days for regional sites and single-day metro Brisbane visits during commissioning. Travel is included in the fixed-scope quote.
Brisbane and Gold Coast contract manufacturers are part of our partner network for domestic pilot runs. For volume production we manage handover to AU or offshore CM per program economics.
